When Estelle returned that night, she handed over a thick wad of papers to Renne. The adoption had been finalised. She was now officially a Bright.
It was an honour that she would need to become stronger if she was to live up to, she knew. She had to learn to behave herself, too. The Radiant Blademaster's family did not indiscriminately kill. They even showed mercy to children like Joshua and herself, to take their would-be assassins under their wing. Cassius was strong enough to get away with that kind of compassion. She wanted to be that strong, one day.
