Title: Phoenix Down
The high-pitched shriek that erupted from the Item Shop could be heard from anywhere in the town and probably a good few floors of the local dungeon as well. This was immediately after a shrill avian cry - actually, it was rather hard to tell the two apart, except that most newly hatched Phoenixes couldn't swear fluently in a number of human languages - then a pillar of flame that expanded to engulf the entire shop, followed by the shattering of glass as a terrified amateur adventurer was thrown out of the shop by a murderous shopkeeper wielding a broadsword with a big price tag on it.
"I honestly didn't know it was going to hatch!" protested the adventurer, ducking to avoid being decapitated by a particularly enthusiastic sword swing, "The mage said she knew about these things! She said it was dormant because it wasn't glowing! An... anyway, you said you wanted any artefacts that weren't cursed and this thing technically isn't cursed, so could I please have my..."
"You're seriously still asking for your pay after wrecking my entire store? Seriously, now?"
He didn't even think it was possible to throw a phoenix but she somehow managed it.
