Francesco was supposed to be resting. The doctor had been very clear: dislocated shoulder, orthopedic sling, and rest—actual rest.
Naturally, after twenty minutes on the couch he was already trying to get up.
Viola glared at him. “Where do you think you’re going? Sit.”
“I’m bored,” he complained.
“Doctor’s orders. And may I remind you that your mother authorized me to tie you down if you don’t rest.”
Francesco chuckled. “Oh yeah? Then I’ll arrest you for unlawful restraint.”
“You’re on medical leave. No badge, no arrest,” she teased.
He huffed. “Come on, Viola. I only need to wash my hair and shave. Then I’ll come straight back to the couch, promise.”
“And how about your arm?” she challenged.
“I’ll take the sling off.”
“Are you nuts? You can’t just do whatever you want.”
“Viola…”
She grabbed a stool from the terrace. “I’ll handle it. Come on.”
“Handle what? Where?”
“Bathroom. We’re doing hair and beard.”
Francesco’s eyes widened. “Absolutely not.”
“Don’t be a baby,” she insisted, dragging him along.
“You don’t even know how!” he protested, already being seated on the stool in front of the sink.
“How hard can it be?”
Francesco sighed, resigned to his fate.
