Summary:
An: I know Stiles’ grandad is an awful person but I like to think that he names Eli Elias because it’s his dad’s middle name.

Maybe it was because most of his family was dead, but family was very important to Derek and when he was given a baby that smelled like him and Stiles he decided to keep the baby.
He was worried that Stiles wouldn’t want the baby, he had his own life outside of Beacon Hills, but he decided that Stiles needed to know that he had a son.
He packed up Stiles’ old jeep that he had found abandoned under a bridge and drove to Stiles’ house with the baby in the back.
He was holding the baby as he knocked on Stiles’ door.
‘Yeah! Yeah! I’m coming!’ Stiles yelled from inside.
The door opened and Stiles stood there in his boxers. Derek couldn’t help but notice how much muscle Stiles had put on; he was no longer a skinny high schooler.
‘Derek? What are you doing here? Did something happen to my Dad… to Scott?’ Stiles asked already smelling like fear.
‘No. They are fine. Can I come in?’ Derek asked because he didn’t want to tell Stiles that he had a kid while standing on his porch.
The baby let out a cry and Derek rubbed his back as he walked into Stiles’ house
‘You have a kid?’
‘Yeah, that’s what I wanted t talk to you about. He is… he is yours too,’ Derek said as he turned around and faced Stiles because he wanted to get it over with. He didn’t know how Stiles would take having a kid with someone they hadn’t even dated, let alone had sex, but he deserved to know.
‘What!? You got pregnant!? How did I get you pregnant!?’
Derek rolled his eyes. ‘You didn’t get me pregnant. That’s not even possible. I found him sitting on The Nemeton.’
‘Oh. How do you know he’s mine?’ Stiles asked.
‘He smells like you. I know this is a lot to take in, but I thought you should know.’
‘Oh. Yeah thanks for telling me. Can I… can I hold him?’ Stiles said nervously as he rubbed the back of his neck.
‘Sure,’ Derek said trying not to get too hopeful, but Stiles wanting to hold the baby was a good sign.
He handed Stiles the baby and Stiles held him.
‘Hey there, little guy. I’m your dad… well I guess I’m your other dad,’ Stiles said as he looked down at the baby and smiled at him. ‘Does he have a name?’ Stiles asked looking at Derek.
‘No. I thought you might like to name him.’
‘Yeah. Okay. How about we name him Elias? That’s my dad’s middle name.’
Not only was Derek happy that Stiles wanted to be Elias’ father but so was his wolf; his wolf already thought of Stiles as family and pack.
Days later, Derek took Stiles on a date and that was the first of many. Derek discovered he liked nothing more than to cuddle with Stiles and watch him play with Eli.
They really were little family.
