Characters: Benton Fraser, Turtle (due South)
Summary:
One day, Benton decided to treat himself and bought a big bag of apples. When he was a boy, his Grandmother would always give him an apple (and a new shirt) as a birthday gift and apples were special to him even though they were plentiful in Chicago.
He went into Ray’s apartment and sat down on the couch waiting for Ray to get home. Red The Turtle was on the couch and Fraser opened the bag and gave him an apple as he chose one for himself.
He bit into the crunchy, juicy apple and it was sweet and slightly tart.
After Red had finished eating his apple, he climbed onto Benton’s lap and Benton rubbed the top of Red’s head.
He often thought that Ray was charming with his tattoo and shirts with sports logos on them, but Red made him even more charming.
Back in Canada, turtles were mostly used for food, his own grandmother made turtle soup from time to time, but he had to admit that Red was a loving pet. Red was even a Painted Turtle, which was a species of turtle commonly found in Canada that made him just as charming as well.
