Striding into Spike’s crypt asking for information was her futile excuse to be there, seeking comfort in someone she claimed not to love.
“Tell me you love me.”
But some lies looked so pretty.
“Tell me you want me.”
She kissed him like she was drowning and he knew that look in her eyes; the one she wore when she wanted to forget.
Buffy told herself that Spike was just a mistake she kept making.
Spike told himself that deep down Buffy knew where she belonged.
And they made love, chasing away a truth that was too rough to bear.
