Summary: A deliciously spicy aroma filled the room.
"Do I smell cookies," Joey gasped, bursting into Monica's apartment.
A deliciously spicy aroma filled the room. Near the stove rested a bowl filled with dough. He instantly reached.
"Hey!" Monica swatted at his hand. "Keep away from that; I only made a small batch."
Briefly, Joey pouted. Then snagged a small nugget of dough when her back was turned.
"You can have one when they're done. But just one," she added, picking up an oven mitt. "The rest are for my coworkers at the restaurant. We had a really stressful day yesterday, and I wanted to take them all something on my next shift." She smiled. "Sort of a way of telling them, 'job well done', after all of that hassle. They're a good crew; they deserve a nice treat, now and then." A buzzer sounded. "Oh! Speaking of treats, the first dozen are done. Okay, here you go."
Sliding a tray out of the oven, she offered a cookie.
"Mon, you're an artist," Joey sighed around a satisfied bite. "What's that extra flavor?"
Monica smiled. "Since autumn is almost here, I threw in some pumpkin pie spice. Just to give the cookies a festive little kick."
"Nice touch!"
