Buffy stood at the edge of the training camp, arms crossed, watching the van rumble to a stop.
The door slid open, and one by one, a small group of new Slayers stepped out. Some hesitant and wide-eyed, some determined and stone-faced, but all were carrying the weight of a destiny they hadn’t asked for.
Buffy had only skimmed the list of their names, but they came from almost every corner of the world, from different backgrounds and countries, and some of them with a survival-level grasp of the English language.
A special full-immersion crash course was already awaiting them.
A few of the girls clutched small bags, others had nothing but the clothes they were wearing.
They looked around, uncertain, as Rona began calling names from a clipboard. One by one they stepped forward to receive their Slayer Starter Kit—a waterproof duffel bag packed with the essentials: a stake, a field guide, a training journal, a first-aid pouch, an engraved ID plate.
Buffy watched the line move forward, with each new Slayer stepping into a new beginning, toward an unknown direction. Whether their journey would lead to many battlefields and as many victories or losses, only time would tell.
