Spike sat on the worn couch in his new basement apartment, a half-empty beer bottle dangling from his fingers. The building was quiet, and it felt good to have his own place, away from Angel’s territory.
But he missed his old crypt. The cold stone, the flickering candles… even with the mismatched furniture, it had been home.
“I could dabble in graveyard design,” he muttered to himself. “Vampires deserve ambiance too. Just because we’re undead, it doesn’t mean we have to be forgotten.”
Spike took another swig and stared at the old-fashioned single bed. Maybe it was time to redecorate.
