I used to think shadows were where monsters lived.
It was a principle that I was taught early on, along with the claim that a Slayer fights alone.
When the porch light flickers, casting dark shapes across the yard, I realize light and shadows are connected; one wouldn’t exist without the other.
I was chosen to be the light who vanquishes the shadows, but I am stronger when Spike, a creature of the shadows, fights beside me.
We’re light and shadow, like yin and yang, coming together as one to vanquish evil.
A principle the Council failed to teach me.

Date: 2025-08-07 06:05 am (UTC)Yes, well... She's often been led to take a black-and-white approach by circumstances, other people's pressure, and her own experience.
In S7 her mind seems to be way more open than it was in earlier seasons, so it represented the perfect setting for this kind of pondering on her part. Any other season wouldn't have worked. IMO. 😄
