“Spike!” Buffy snapped, slamming the crypt door behind her. “You were supposed to help me find Riley, not to get the Initiative doctor to remove your chip!”
“All I’m after is my bloody liberty, Slayer,” Spike drawled, not bothering to stand from the armchair.
She crossed her arms, glaring at him. “Liberty to do what? Murder and mayhem?”
He smirked, but it looked more like a grimace. “To be what I am. Not this… neutered freak show. It’s a hard row to hoe, being dangerous without doing damage. Even tried being useful but the noble-vamp gig gave me a rash.”
Buffy rolled her eyes. “Poor vampire. Can’t hunt, can’t kill. Doomed to sulk in his crypt and watch… is that Dawson’s Creek?!?”
Spike sprang to his feet, walking up to her. “Are you here to criticize my TV taste or to drive that stake through my heart for delaying the treatment for Cap’n Cardboard?” he asked, pointing at the weapon in her hand.
“He has a severe heart condition and you put his life at risk!”
“Don’t bloody care! Either dust me or be gone.”
Groaning, Buffy threw the stake at his head. He ducked.
“Missed.”
“Go to hell, Spike.”
