After her conversation with Holden, the vampire who’d pointed at Spike as his sire, Buffy had thought that finding clues and connecting them to Spike would be the hardest thing she’d have to do.
That, and dealing with the bitter truth that he might be back to his old tricks, with everything such revelation would entail; she’d have to dust him.
She’d been wrong.
Watching him sit in a corner, dazed, helpless, and ashamed, still talking to something only he could see… just a shell of the fiery fighter he used to be.
That had hit harder than anything else.
