Summary: Rachel grinned knowingly.
"I just had a terrible interview today," Monica groaned, hanging up her coat and scarf.
Rachel glanced up from her magazine. "What happened, to make it so terrible?"
"We need a new cook, because we're short-handed at the restaurant. This girl came in, and she had great references."
"So, how's that bad," Rachel wondered.
Monica shuddered at the memory. "She had flecks of mud all over her clothes, and almost the dirtiest fingernails I've ever seen. 'My hobby is gardening,' she told me, when I pointed it out. And she offered to bring in fresh vegetables whenever we're out of stock, at no cost to the restaurant. The offer was generous, and certainly highly tempting," Monica readily confessed. "It'd be nice to have free fresh produce on hand whenever we need it. And the interviewee's references, again, spoke volumes. But no."
Rachel grinned knowingly. "It was all about the mud, wasn't it," she asked.
"Ugh! That, and the fact that the girl was unprofessional enough to come into a job interview without cleaning herself up before leaving her home." Monica gestured in futile frustration. "Why would anybody act like that?! Would she come in to work in that condition?!"
