Fandom: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, with a surprise crossover };)
Characters/Pairings: Raphael, Ensemble
Word Count: 500
Rating: PG/K+
Summary: Raphael's the only one awake in the lair, but that won't last long when he sneaks online again.

Everything was silent in the lair except for his brother's snores. Even Master Splinter appeared to have fallen quietly asleep in his dojo, after rising before the sun as always. Having been up so late battling the Shredder seemed to have even taken a toll on him. Raphael knew he should be using this time to be sneaking out of the lair and actually making an impact on the crime wave hitting New York, but the idea of leaving his family to their own devices, and especially to their own protection, after last night's battle did not, at least yet, sit well with him.

That was why he was currently sitting at his brother's keyboard while the computer geek slept soundly. He glanced again at his brothers, but they were out cold, except for Mikey salivating and mumbling something about pizza in his sleep. There'd come a time, Raphael knew, when his younger brother was no longer studying food in his dreams. Slices of pizza would be replaced by April and other girls, even imaginary ones, but at least it wouldn't be by the violent scenes that haunt Raphael's own dreams. Those persisting nightmares were another reason why he did not want to sleep this night. The others wouldn't know he hadn't been up all night -- they never did. He supposed his mood darkening from lack of sleep was no different than the usual anger that was always boiling in him, at least not that they could see.

But there was so much that his brothers never saw, so much that his family, even Sensei, did not see. Those things which plagued him were exactly why he should be out there fighting right now, but he didn't want to leave his brothers unsupervised again. He needed a different way to unwind and release the tension inside of him.

So he signed on instead, shushing the computer when it spoke loudly in the still room. He would've been fine too, Raphael would later fume, if he'd only chosen any other site but his favorite. A loud, piercing neigh erupted into the lair, startling his brothers and their Sensei awake. Raphael, having turned as red as his bandana, quickly slammed the computer lid shut -- but not in time. Mikey snickered. Leo groaned, rolled his eyes, and then rolled over.

Donatello was the only one to pop up. "I've been meaning to talk to you, Raphael -- "

"Dude! What happened to my stories?!"

The word was out of his mouth before he could stop it, and he glowered at Michelangelo as he rolled off his bunk with laughter.

"About that," Donatello spoke seriously, "they're still there, but I need you to be more cautious with what sites you... turn to for your needs. I honestly don't care that you're a bronie, but I'm not wiping my disk clean again."

Mikey's laughter, followed by Raphael's cursing, echoed through the sewer. Leonardo and Splinter sighed, both knowing there would be no more slumber that day.
