Buffy hung up the phone and joined Spike in the living room. “That was Dawn,” she sighed.
“What’s wrong?” he asked, turning off the TV.
“Joyce ran outside and started to jump into the rain puddles in their backyard before she and Xander could catch her,” she explained, smiling. “They have to bathe her again, so Dawn called to let us know they’ll be late.”
Spike chuckled. “That child’s a handful. How long do you think they’ll keep us waiting?”
“I don’t know,” she said, arching her eyebrow. “Why? What do you have in mind?”
“Something to pass the time.”
“If your ‘something’ involves being naked, forget it,” she said. “Do you have any idea how long it took me to do my makeup?”
“We’re just going out for dinner with your sister,” Spike sighed. “Besides, you don’t even need any of that rubbish. You’re gorgeous.”
Buffy beamed. “Why, thanks. But, you know… being a Slayer I don’t get to doll myself up very often. Can’t I make myself extra pretty when I get the chance?”
“Course, luv. But then I have to spend the night sending death glares to the randy gits ogling you.”
“You’re cute when you’re jealous.”
