Arms tight around him and chin pressed to his back, she whispers “Drive fast.” He never needed to be told things twice.
They eat and sleep on beds with her ill earned money, which she splits in two equal bundles, one pushed to his chest.
“To hold.”
“To keep.”
He bristles. “I don't work for you.”
“...Quite right.” She agrees, voice low, eyes sad. “It's your due.”
