“Why the hell are we here?” asked Spike, cursing under his breath when he stepped on a squishy chunk of barbecued snake flesh.
“Janice’s boyfriend wants to throw a Halloween party here,” said Dawn.
“That’s over two months from now!”
“They asked me to scout the old high-school ruins,” she said, making a face. “Yuck. With this authentic decaying demon flesh lying around we won’t need spooky decorations.”
Spike groaned. “Can’t you go trick-or-treating in a good old-fashioned American way?”
“Spike, that’s for children! We’re teenagers.”
“That’s a fancy word for ‘morons who are gonna get in trouble,’” he mumbled.
