Giovanni took in Red's expression, as it drifted from shock to a contemptuous determination. I don't like this any better than you do, kid, he thought. He was just as sick of Red as Red must be of him.
Nevertheless, he was the head of Viridian City's Gym. The position came with certain responsibilities. As the last barrier between any challenger and the Elite Four, it lay with Giovanni to test Red's strength.
