"I still do not believe that an overweight dog of that breed should have been able to travel from Krup to Nalya so fast," reported Rika. Chaz sighed with relief. From the troubled look on her face, he had assumed she was deep in thought about an actual problem she was having.
"Rocky's one interesting mutt," agreed the Hunter, yawning. Why did Rika have to debate this at three in the morning?"
"By my calculations, he was using Saner," said Rika, "Or having Saner used on him. Or he used Ryuka…"
"A dog. Uses techniques it took me years of training to master. Just so he can escape when he's bored."
"When else would a dog use Ryuka?" Rika gave him a puzzled look, "There is a precedent case for domestic animals using techniques. The cats of Skure, descended from Musk Cats, initiated telepathic communication with an owner equipped to receive the signals. They probably survived the poison gas by learning Anti."
"Look, just let me know if Rocky's likely to burn the place down because he was hungry, okay? I'm going back to sleep."
"Of course Rocky would not do that," she reassured him, "He knows Zan, not Foi."
