“Hey, Rupert, where’s the remote?” asked Spike, scattering the sofa’s cushions around the room.
“Locked in my safe,” he said, rubbing his temples. “Stop taking apart my sofa!”
Spike gave him a bewildered look, tossing a throw pillow behind his back. “What’s the bloody remote doing in your safe?”
“So you’ll stop annoying me with your incessant zapping.”
“And what am I supposed to do to pass the time? Admire the ceiling?” asked Spike.
Giles took off his glasses. “Perhaps your time could be more usefully employed in reading. I own a vast selection of books.”
“Are you shittin’ me?”
“Absolutely not,” said Giles, putting his glasses back on. “At least in order to read you need to be quiet.”
Spike smirked. “Or I could pick the worst book from your ‘vast selection’ and read it out loud. There goes your quiet.”
“Why would you do that?”
“Why?” asked Spike, exasperated. “Because annoying the hell out of you lot is the only remotely evil thing I can still do since those blighters messed with my brain!”
Giles took the remote from his desk drawer and tossed it to Spike, groaning.
He grinned. “It’s a pleasure doing business with you, Rupes.”
