Buffy wasn’t easily spooked. Not for a long time, not anymore.
Yet here she was, running through the night, as fast as her legs and lungs would allow her to. Away from the cemetery, away from that chapel, away from the sizzling vampire embracing the cross.
His soul. Spike had gotten his soul back, God knows how, and now he was…
Buffy reached the steps of her back porch and sat down, exhausted. He’d been a trainwreck when she’d found him squatting in the high-school basement. How had she missed the signals?
Would he ever be of sound mind again?
