When she heard that Tara and Willow were back from patrol, Dawn knew that she’d find Spike smoking a cigarette on the front porch.
She grabbed a book from her nightstand, rushing downstairs and outside. “Hey,” she whispered.
“Go back to bed, platelet. It’s late,” he grumbled.
“Can’t sleep. Will you read to me?” she asked, clutching the book to her chest.
“I’m not a sodding nanny.”
Dawn smirked. “I’ll settle for a scary goodnight story.”
Spike snatched the book with a grunt. “Ten minutes, then you’re off to bed.”
Grinning with satisfaction, she dragged him to the living room.
