Buffy gave a dejected look at the sum displayed on the calculator, then she dropped her head on the bills scattered on the kitchen table, letting out a frustrated groan.
She groaned louder when the back door opened, followed by the sound of booted footsteps.
“What do you want?” she asked, without lifting her head.
Spike stood beside her, tucking his thumbs into the waistband of his jeans. “You didn’t stop by today. I was starting to worry.”
“Give me a break, Spike. That’s not why you’re here,” she said, finally lifting her head and glaring at him with contempt.
He shrugged. “Cutting to the chase then, a’right. Can I interest you in a good romp?”
“I’m not interested in you in general, Spike. Get out.”
“That’s a lie,” he said nonchalantly, picking up the calculator. “What’s this?”
“That’s none of your business!” she snapped, batting the device out of his hand.
“I told you I can help with the money, pet.”
“I don’t need your help, nor do I want it. I’ll ask for more shifts at work. Get. Out.”
Spike scoffed. “Fine, suit yourself. Guess I’ll see you again when you’re in the mood for a shag, then.”
