Spike walked into his crypt, took off his duster, tossed it on a nearby sarcophagus, and froze mid-step when her scent hit his nostrils.
Buffy.
Descending to the lower level, he found her asleep on his bed, curled on her side, with a kitten huddled on the pillow next to her head.
He observed the scene with a tilt of his head, unsure of what to make of it.
The furry little bugger had scampered away and hidden when he’d gathered the other kittens to pay his poker debts, but he had no soddin’ idea what Buffy was doing there.
