Title: Confident in Love
Fandom: X-Men
Characters/Pairings: Bank (Bobby/Hank)
Word Count: 400
Rating: PG/K+
Summary: In which Hank comforts Bobby, and Bobby lets him. Early days.

He'd thought these days were over for him. He'd thought he had control over his powers and would no more be subjected to freezing temperatures. He had clearly thought wrong. Perhaps it had something far more to do with the strange gun that had been taken from Forge and hit him than any fault of his own, except for being too slow to avoid the bullet.

Regardless, right now, Bobby felt like he was freezing to death. Everything on him was shivering and shaking, and though Hank held him close and tight against his muscular body, he still couldn't stop shaking. His boyfriend's fingers smoothed his hair back as he murmured consolingly to him, "You're going to be fine. The medication will start working soon."

The mere fact that Hank wasn't speaking his usual, scientific gibberish told Bobby how worried he was about him, but he knew he was right. Hank would never lie to him. They loved each other. Beyond that, he could actually feel a little heat beginning to tingle in his frozen toes. He closed his eyes and tried to focus on that heat and on Hank's fingers running through his hair.

Slowly, the pain ebbed. Slowly, he began to warm. As the heat that had started in his toes spread its way up Bobby's trembling body, he stopped shaking and started to relax some. He continued to focus on Hank's embrace, and as the cold fog slowly lifted from his mind, he found himself remembering another time, not too long after he had joined this school for the, as he preferred to think of them, Awesomely Gifted.

Back then, he'd thought Hank's body wrapped around his had felt wonderful, but he had been a little reluctant over the blanket that had separated them. "You can lose the blanket," he found himself whispering. Hank instantly did, but they did not speak again for some time after that. Instead, Hank simply continued to hold him. With no blanket or any other barrier between them, Bobby could feel every inch of his lover. Before, he'd not yet had his fur, but now his blue fur felt as good, warm, and comforting as any blanket.

Hank splayed Bobby's bangs, brushing them away from his forehead and then brushing his actual, cool forehead. "Sleep, beloved," he whispered as Bobby's eyes drifted close. "You'll be well." Confident of Hank's words, Bobby slept.
