Peter came downstairs for a drink of water, surprised to see Mike still sitting at the bandstand, staring forlornly out at the ocean.
"Are you still bothered about us losing the contest," he asked, coming to join his bandmate.
Mike glanced up at him. "Yeah. 'Fraid I am, Peter. Just nursin' some wounded pride. I really thought we were gonna win that one."
"Honorable mention's nothing to sneeze at."
"Maybe not. But we worked real hard on those arrangements and lyrics, and just about rehearsed our hearts out."
"We're all disappointed, Michael," Peter reminded him. "But there'll be other chances."
