Summary: The Seven celebrate together again.

"I don't know why we can't just close Christmas Eve," Maria muttered, "or why we always get stuck working the bad shifts!"

"Yes, you do. We're not management, and we're not moms. Yet." Carly smiled, a sparkle in her eyes as she thought of things to come. "Besides," she continued with a shrug, "I kind of like working here late night on holidays."

"Why?" Maria frowned. "Don't you want to be with Ben?"

"Of course, I do, and he'll be in later. You could always get your family to come by too, you know."

"We should just be closed," Maria grumbled.

"And miss these last few bucks from all these lonely saps? You know they're not about to go for that! Besides, wait 'til midnight."

"For what?" Maria demanded, her frown deepening.

"You'll see," the elder employee said, but when midnight came, Maria still had not seen anything worth her having to suffer through another Christmas night in a bar.

"Have you seen them?"

"Seen who?" Maria asked Carly as she bent over a spot on the bar she'd been scrubbing at for the last several minutes.

Instead of turning to look, Carly nodded toward the table furthest in the back. It was one of the old relics, one of the few things they claimed had been left in the bar from its beginning all the way back in the 1800s. But when she looked at the old thing, Maria's mouth fell open. "When did they come in?" she whispered. "They're cute! And why are they sitting way back there?" She frowned again and slapped the rag against the counter. "Don't tell me they're gay!"

"I think some of them might be," Carly whispered, "but all I really know is that they've been showing up here every holiday night at midnight. I never see them come in, and I never see them leave. And most nights, they don't stay long."

"Well, I'm going to ask them what they want to drink!"

Maria picked up her pad, but by the time she'd walked around the corner, the seven men who had gathered around the table were gone.

She blinked and looked this way and that, but there was no sign of them. "Where'd they go?!"

Carly shook her head. "They won't let you take their order. They'll disappear every time you try to, but watch this. Walk back around."

Maria did as instructed, frowning and constantly looking over her slender shoulder. It was not until she was back behind the bar that the men showed up again, but this time, there were women with them. A beautiful Hispanic sat in one man's lap. A blonde, tall and regal, stood beside the man in black, her hand on his shoulder. A cowgirl sat beside another. "What the -- "

"I think they were here before," Carly whispered, "and just want to be left alone while they make their own celebrations."

"Madre di Dios! Even the ghosts get to celebrate with their families!"

Laughter reigned.
