Title: Springing Step
Fandom: X-Men
Characters/Pairings: RoLo (Ororo/Logan)
Word Count: 400
Rating: G/K
Summary: Spring has come.

Although she could keep the weather at perfect, sunny temperatures all year round if she so chose, Ororo tried not to interfere too much with what the Mother Goddess intended. She only bent the elements to her will, on purpose, when necessary, and so she had endured the dull, gray skies, heavy snows, and downpours with the rest of New York's citizens throughout the Winter. Now, finally, however, the weather was beginning to lift. Spring was well on the way, and the day was as beautiful and pleasant with vast, blue skies and fluffy, white clouds as any she could have made.

Even better, she had not been called away on a mission all day, and Ororo had been enjoying the skies since sunrise like she had not in years. She almost fell like a kid again as she spotted her dearest friend down below and made a beeline for him. He jumped into the tree as she approached and came down only after she had landed perfectly upon her booted feet with a shiny, red apple in each hand. "You stop flyin' like a Spring chicken long enough to eat somethin' yet this mornin', 'Ro?" Logan asked with a grin.

She smiled and accepted the apple. "Do I seem that youthful to you, Logan?"

"Nah, darlin'. With age comes wisdom an' beauty, an' you got loads o' both, but I ain't seen you enjoyin' a day like today far too long. How long you been up there anyway?"

"Long enough," she replied, unable to keep a merry twinkle from her blue eyes. "How long have you been watching me?" she teased, taking a big bite of the fresh apple.

"Long enough," he answered, imitating her bite as well, "an' not long enough. I could spend th' rest o' my life watchin' you, little darlin'."

She beamed. Spring definitely was in the air. The years seemed to fall away as they ate in silence. She darted up in the tree, making a mental note to give her extra nourishment the next day, and retrieved two more apples. Logan leapt up again, and she joined him on the big, thick branch that was perfectly strong enough to hold them both. "I could take you for a flight."

"Nah," he said, but then grinned at her, wide, mischievous, and almost like a young boy with his first crush. "I'd rather watch you."
