Summary: The Consuls and the Queen had nothing on the nonsensical existence of the Nopon.
Note: I started chapter 5 now. No spoilers, please!

"I'm not here to talk about your attempted sabotage of Mecha-Friend again. I'm sure you know by now that it was wrong," Noah sighed. It was difficult to reprimand a Nopon. They had such huge round eyes and cute fuzzy innocent faces.

He got the impression they could get away with sabotaging anything if they wanted to.

"Is it true that you've... always been there? Like, the tenth-termers have seen you since they were rookies and they were told about you by the veterans, who saw you when they were rookies..."

"Hey, Widgewidge only 19!" complained the little green-furred mechanic, "You want to see oldypon, go Colony 4, Kukucha in 40's!"

"And you've never wondered why everyone else times out ten? Why nothing else works like you do?"

Widgewidge shrugged, "Nopons just is. Always been Nopons. Don't know why, no allowed in Castle to ask."

"Like you lot could be kept out of ANYTHING you were curious about! Nobody even notices what you're up to half the time, that's the whole problem."

"If could help, would do, sorry," Widgewidge sighed and stared at the floor, "Can only do Nopon things. Cook, fix, trade. Not been a Heropon in many generations."

"What's a Herop... you know, I don't care any more, keep your secrets," Noah sighed, threw his hands up in exasperation, then walked off. It didn't do to argue with Nopon. You only looked like an idiot. Maybe they were all idiots compared to Nopon, who wandered all over the world and lived four times as long as normal people. Hiding behind that childish facade, they just seemed immune from fate and the world around them, more so than the Consuls and the Queen.

He wasn't sure whether to be extremely suspicious or see them as a symbol of hope.
