Everything was so disorienting - the ghostly figures waltzing around in time to eerily distorted music like a record on the wrong speed, except seemingly piped in from nowhere, the berserk Shades attacking relentlessly or spewing endless spheres of dark magic, Kaine screaming obscenities at them as though in response to what they were saying - Nier almost didn't spot that Grimoire Weiss' voice was also slurring. His covers looked creased, too, his binding frayed.
"You okay?" he yelled to the book.
"N... never felt better. F... fit as a f... fiddle."
