Title: Tabletop Night
The first session went a lot better than Pearl expected. For instance, Phoenix and Edgeworth only spent an hour arguing over the rules, rather than than the entire night, as she'd worried they might.
She'd learnt that, when adults were off work and they wanted to relax and play games, they often avoided their roles at work. Maya had helped her write a defensive Paladin character for Phoenix and a more attack-focussed Fighter character for Edgeworth but they'd swapped round the character sheets.
Maya herself wanted to play a shaman, though, and kept using it as an excuse to teach Pearl fascinating facts about how spirit summoning would really work in any given situation. Pearl had been forced to yell at her until she agreed to just have fun, throw reality out of the window and be dramatic. If they could hit dragons with magic swords, they could summon spirits a little faster than normal without as much preparation and have them interfere with the physical world more than would usually be possible.
Despite his awful dice luck - Maya had suspected he was actually cursed but the ritual of blessing hadn't helped - Gumshoe had enjoyed playing the wizard.
