Summary: Evan seems to have no taste for war, despite his huge ambitions. If he ever did...
If it had been anyone else but Evan, Roland would have begun to take certain measures as soon as the King started to talk about uniting the entire world under one banner. The little catboy still didn't have an aggressive bone in his body. It was difficult to even persuade him to concentrate properly on defending himself. The moment he started to get a taste for battle, to think about crushing the other nations under his iron paws instead of persuading them to join by promising aid to fight a common enemy, Roland would be there to rein him in. As it was, Evan's idealism and naivete got him into trouble sometimes but he was not likely to become a dictator overnight. In fact, if Evan ever started to display such characteristics, that was when Roland would know for certain that Doloran had gotten around to using his powers of corruption and possession on the boy and his deceptively silly-looking Kingmaker. Roland was constantly on the lookout for such signs. As he watched the boy frantically try to break up another argument between Broadleaf engineers and Capstan-upon-Hull shipwrights, he knew that he had nothing to fear, for now at least.
