Olivia closed her eyes, stretched her face up to the sky, to feel the warm, comforting sunbeams on her skin. It had been hard to talk with the mother of the young girl. To tell her that her daughter would never come back home again, to see unbelieve and pain in her eyes, while she desperately shook her head, refusing to accept the truth. Olivia had put an arm around her shoulder, had felt her trembling when she finally broke down.
It were these moments when she almost hated her job, when all her strength threatened to break, and she thought about it just to give up. She breathed in deeply and straightened up. Knowing that this would never happen. No matter what she had to go through, no matter how hard it sometimes was. Too many victims out there, young and innocent, like her mother had been until a merciless monster had decided to destroy her life. They all needed someone who cared about them, who was looking for justice.
When she noticed detective Elliot Stabler stepping closer, she pulled her sunglasses down to cover her eyes. „We could make a stop at Billy's Hot Dog cart,“ she said.
