Don't ever once try to look quite so close
Or your time you may turn out to waste
Those bright diamonds that you think you see
Might soon prove to be no more than paste

Not all that you happen to think that you see
Is everything that you think that it seems
For even the darkest and cruelest of nightmares
Can start out as the sweetest and loveliest of dreams

Where trickery and imagination run eagerly rampant
There might also run swift and rampant deceptions
They can readily ally themselves to create lies
Beyond anyone's wildest thoughts or conceptions
