"Friends come here a lot more often these days," commented Ayla, "Friends must like Ayla's home."
"I am impressed by the human capability to retain a sense of relative time passage during extended periods of repeated time travel," commented Robo, "My internal clocks are set to several time periods running parallel to each other, so..."
"What Ayla say before? Say real words. No make head go boom," she berated the robot.
"To tell you the truth, I've been coming here just to get away from the Black Omen," admitted Marle, "This is the only place far back enough in time for the thing not to reach. Just seeing it gives me a migraine."
"No like boat. Boat wrong," agreed Ayla, "Animals no like either."
Marle remembered that the last time they'd visited Crono's house, his cats had all been agitated, often pausing in the middle of whatever they were doing to look up at the shadow, arch their backs and hiss at it. Only Crono's mother seemed as oblivious to the looming menace as she was to anything else except laundry and cat care.
Nobody else could rest easy underneath the dark pyramid that stalked them through time and space.
