What is the cost of healing
When the heart can't find its way
What will ever soothe an inner burn
And stave off the dismay

What can help the heart to mend
When it's been crushed so much
What can help to ease the way along
Where is the gentle touch

That can help the crying heart to stop
Its aching ways once more
Where is the balm for that cruel pain
That cuts straight to the core

The heart truly is so resilient
But it cannot quite withstand
An eternity that's just bathed in pain
Its spirit cannot understand
