Wow, it's all been quite the blur.
Blair got here on Wednesday morning. I fetched her from the airport, we did a little shopping for things we would need, got some boba, and drove all the way down South. Past San Diego, even, to a little town literally within walking distance of the Mexican border. This was where our con hotel was. We unpacked, went swimming in the hotel pool, and had the best Mexican food either one of us has ever had for dinner.
Thursday was our one and only day of San Diego Comic Con. Business as usual! Our cosplays got a lot of attention. We puttered around in the exhibit hall, took lots of pictures, holed up in the game room for awhile playing some fun games. Met up with a friend at the sky bar for some drinks before leaving.
Yesterday, Friday, was long. We left our hotel and messed about in a nearby shopping center for a bit before taking off up the PCH (Pacific Coast Highway). Traffic was awful. It took all day to get like four hours worth of driving done. We did get to have dinner at this incredible little hidden spot right on the beach in Malibu, so being held back that way was worth it. What followed was a lot of night driving. We got to Lompoc, where our next hotel was, at almost midnight.
Today we left the hotel, skipped breakfast, and ended up having an early lunch at a tiny Thai spot where I, no joke, nearly choked to death on a glob of rice that would not go down nor come back up, and it was very scary. Fortunately everything ended up fine (obviously) and we were on our way to this place where you can see Elephant Seals basking on the beach. We watched them for awhile and then went for a walk, wading in the water a little and hunting for pretty shells and rocks. On the way to our next hotel, we popped into a winery called The Four Lanterns and bought a bottle of wine to drink when we get to our new home.
Now we're at our hotel for the night, have visited the laundromat, had dinner and just finished re-orienting all our stuff in bags and boxes.
I'll try to keep updates going but it's really a LOT of driving and not a lot of time spent on my phone. I do post some highlights each night on my Instagram, which is urbanfoxproblem if anyone is interested in following me on social media.
Hope everyone's doing great!
