He'd be lying if he said he didn't still struggle. (He lied, often.) But things had changed, and the void that had- (voids, cascading voids)
David reached to trail his fingers through Dead End's hair. Whether Dead End was asleep or just feigning it, David wasn't sure, but it didn't matter. (Asleep, exhausted, utterly satisfied.) This wasn't for Dead End, not really.
He didn't have the words for it. He didn't need the words, not yet. (Dead End didn't seem to care either way and that was good enough for the both of them.)
David smiled in the dim light.
