As he was sitting at his desk, Francesco watched Viola in the outer office.
She laughed at something Prosecutor Ferrara said, and a sudden heat rushed through his veins. Ferrara had never been that funny and Viola was far too smart to fall for his lame jokes.
When she finally walked into Francesco’s office and approached his desk to discuss the case, he couldn’t stop thinking about the smile she’d given the magistrate just moments before.
“You okay?” Viola asked gently, and Francesco nodded with a tight grin, while his stupid jealousy was already lighting a fire in his chest.
