Tamara huffed in Viola’s direction. “Do you mind explaining why we had to waste all this time for your take-away cappuccino?”
“Because I barely slept, I told you. And I didn’t have time for breakfast,” Viola muttered, taking a sip as they approached the cordoned-off area.
Seeing them arrive, Francesco left Turi to coordinate the forensics team and walked up to them. “So you do know how to stay behind the tape. How come you rarely do it?” he asked, with his signature cocky tone.
“Why deprive ourselves of the pleasure of annoying you?” Viola shot back, matching his tone.
Tamara rolled her eyes. “Instead of flirting with Viola, could you give us a statement, Inspector?”
“Not yet, Tamara. We’ve just started collecting evidence,” Francesco said with a crooked smile. Then he turned to Viola. “Is that cappuccino?”
“With chocolate. Why?”
He took the cup from her hand. “Whatever.”
Viola glared at him as he drank in big gulps.
“How can you drink this garbage?” he grimaced, handing it back.
“If you hated it so much, why did you drink half of it?”
“I didn’t have breakfast.”
“How is that my problem?”
“You made me late.”
Tamara exclaimed triumphantly, “Finally!”
