Detective Dowling flipped through the file again. “So we’re rejecting this project about developing a jail system for supernatural beings.”
Buffy nodded. “Demons aren’t regular outlaws you toss behind bars. They follow their own rules. You can’t just keep them under lock and key.”
Spike scoffed. “Did SFPD learn nothing from the bloody Safe Zone internment camps? Government tried locking us all down for their twisted gain, and it all went sideways. The supernatural world doesn’t play by human rules. And that’s where we swipe in.”
“We handle what the law can’t,” added Buffy. “It’s how it has to be.”
