Buffy tied the last streamer to the railing, then she stepped down onto the garden path admiring her handiwork.
The front porch and garden were a festive explosion of spooky decorations featuring skeletons, cobwebs, big spiders, black cats, and cute bats with googly eyes.
“Joyce will love this, won’t she?” she asked.
Spike placed a freshly carved jack-o’-lantern by the doorway, grunting. “Sure. Goes perfectly with her bloody Wednesday Addams obsession.”
“You’re so melodramatic, Spike.”
He scowled. “She wants me to take her trick-or-treating dressed as Uncle Fester! Wearing a sodding bald cap!”
“Stop complaining. We both know you’ll cave.”
