Cas was designed to be a warrior of God; it was written into his very DNA.
When he met Dean again (after he pulled him out of Hell) he wondered why The Righteous Man didn’t think he deserved to be saved. Dean loved others so much, but he didn’t love himself
After the first time he kissed Dean, Dean stared up at him and Cas saw the love in his bright green eyes and it felt wonderful.
He might have been designed to be a warrior of God, but he chose to love Dean and to be loved by him.
