Title: 'That was Patrol; This is the War'
Fandom: The Legend of Zelda (Spoilers for 'Breath of the Wild', and potentially 'Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity')
Characters: Mipha, Daruk, Urbosa, and Revali
Word Count: 100
Rating: PG-13 (Implied violence; implied canon character death)
Notes: Crossposted to
lyricaltitles
Summary: In practice, the matter is an entirely different affair.
The Divine Beasts were meant to be mobile fortresses. Bases from which to strike a crucial blow at the Calamity Ganon when it rose, in relative safety.
That was the intention. Sound in theory, based on ancient prior experience.
In practice, the matter is an entirely different affair.
In all of the training that they've done, to prepare for this moment, none of the Champions expected for their own weapons to be leveled in opposition to them. Possessed by extensions of the Calamity's unbridled will.
This is not a war that they were expecting to fight.
This...this is slaughter.
