The sound of the shovel digging into the dirt was almost deafening in the eerie silence of the grove.
With a sense of grim determination, Buffy started filling up Chloe’s grave—unfortunately for the poor girl, there was no time to deal with proper procedures now that The First had upped the stakes.
Pangs of guilt cursed through Buffy every time she shoveled some dirt into the grave; could she have done more to prevent this gruesome turn of events?
The weight of leadership mixed with her resolve to prevent more casualties; she’d get it done before it was too late.
