The burgers sizzled on the grill and Buffy flipped them over while she half listened to Todd’s blabbering.
She almost jumped at the opportunity to get more special sauce when Todd announced there was none left, but instead he sent her up front to deal with customers.
Buffy stole a glance at the clock, sighing. Her shift would end at noon… just one more hour and she could go home for some much-needed rest.
“Welcome to the Doublemeat Palace, how may I help—”
Riley stood at the counter wearing a bulletproof vest and a grim expression.
So much for resting.
