Sipping his coffee, Spike watched Buffy eat her pumpkin pie with delightful little moans and he smiled. Midnight strolls on Golden Gate Avenue had become almost a daily ritual since they’d discovered this lovely family-run donut coffee shop, open twenty-four hours.
The neighborhood wasn’t exactly what you’d call “family friendly,” especially at night, but Buffy and Spike had lived on the Hellmouth. They’d averted several apocalypses. They’d both died twice and came back to life. They exuded so much power and badass-ness that the shady night folks lurking in the area literally made way for them when they walked by.
For their part, Buffy and Spike steered clear of non-supernatural matters, but they usually alerted Dowling at SFPD in case they noticed something that might need immediate attention.
“What are you smiling at?” asked Buffy, swallowing her pie with a sip of milkshake.
“You’re adorable when you dig into your food,” he said with a smirk.
“Want some? Last chance,” she said, pushing her almost empty plate toward him.
Spike shook his head. “I’m waiting for my favorite dessert.”
He wiggled his eyebrows at Buffy’s frown, and added, “As soon as we’re back home I’m going to eat you out.”
