A terrible series of bangs dragged Davy out onto the landing of the upper floor.
"What in the world's going on," he demanded, spotting Mike coming in through the back door.
Mike sighed. "Leave it to Micky."
"Oh, great. What's he done, this time?"
"Seems like he thought the best way to clean out a pumpkin to make a jack-o'-lantern was to put a few firecrackers inside the darned thing, and let 'em blow."
"How the heck did he expect that to work," Davy wondered.
"Probably a lot better than it turned out," was the mildly sardonic reply.
