[Amnesty: Challenge #276: Rush] Original Fiction: 'Scraps'
Title: 'Scraps'
Fandom: Original Fiction
Characters: Original
Word Count: 100
Rating: G
Summary: He snores loudly; the inadvertent sign that all's clear.
Zania perches on the parapet, cautiously gazing into the open window.
There, the old sorcerer slumps across his table, head pillowed on one of his many books. He snores loudly; the inadvertent sign that all's clear.
Reaching through, Zania snatches up a few scraps of paper that rest beneath a carved crystal paperweight. She knows that those who send her on these nightly thefts will pay well for any item, however small, that she can retrieve. It's a nuisance to have to secretly rush through the task; but those who pay her want the sorcerer alive, to keep learning from.
