Davy slumped at the kitchen table, looking dejected.
"Something the matter," Micky asked him, holding out a bottle of root beer.
"Thanks." Taking the offered beverage, he took a hearty swig. "I can't seem to find anyone to go out with this weekend."
Micky choked on a gulp of orange cola. Once the sputtering ended, he stared at his friend. "You?! You can't find a date?! Days like this happen to the best of us, but I never thought I'd see it happen to you, of all people! Gee, I didn't even think it was possible."
"Neither did I, honestly."
